This one was the first "boutique" pedal that I ever purchased and I still love it today. It's really everything a distortion pedal should be, which is NOT overdrive, NOT fuzz. DISTORTION.
Note, that sub-bass internal trim pot is strong. You think you love bass so you may be tempted to crank that thing. Don't do that. You might hurt a speaker. Be gentle!
The EQ options might seem a little daunting at first, but my advice is start with the Bass and Treble knobs at noon, then adjust the toggle (flat, mids, or scooped) until you find the sound you like, then adjust the trimpots accordingly.
I personally like it flat with the Bass and Treble control both nudged up to 2 o' clock. A little of the sub bass internal trimpot is added in there too.
I also roll back my volume on my guitar just a little, because the powerful gain on this thing can throw you into feedback pretty quickly.
Barber pedals are killer. I bought this one and I've used a Small Fry in the studio. My buddy has the Tone Press and the Burn Unit, and another buddy has the LTD. All great stuff. This baby is no exception.
