We designed the Empress ParaEq w/Boost to give musicians a powerful, musical, high quality EQ in a conveniently small package. - Lots of Control - with switchable q, fully over-lapping sweepable frequency selection, and 15dB of cut and boost you’ll get all the control you need.
- Ultra-Quiet – You’ve come to expect our pedals to be noise free and we’ve delivered once again. If you put this at the front of your chain and boost a bit you’ll also cut down on the noise your other pedals are introducing.
- Loads of Headroom - Internally switchable to run off 9/12/18V power supplies.
- 30dB of Boost - making it an ideal candidate before long effects chains and overdriving tube amps.
- Pristine Clean Sound – We measured the distortion to be less than 0.03%. Pretty remarkable for a guitar pedal.
- True Bypass - The Empress ParaEq w/Boost EQ Pedal employs true bypass, so you can be sure that it's not affecting the signal when disengaged.

Sound is definitely five stars but...

First of all, this little blue box is probably one of the best EQs in pedal that you'll ever find but it is not for everyone.
Why? Because it's (almost) full parametric EQ and with my experience as FOH engineer it wasn't a problem to find the right sound but it can be very difficult to nail favorite sound for average guitar player and I've read lots of other reviews where guitarists are selling this box because it was to complicated for them.
Lets stop talking about bad things because this pedal don't deserve any bad words :) It's very transparent and for the test I've set all gain knobs at noon and then tried to turn on and off the pedal. The sound was exactly the same in both cases without any changes. For those who don't know, gains at noon means that there are no frequencies added or removed. In this mode you can just use boost knob to have very clean booster with monstrous 30dB of boost. I tried to nail some of my favorite sounds and I've found that it was very easy because all controls are very responsive.
For conclusion I can only say - if you know how to work with parametric EQ this pedal is perfect choice for you and if it's too complicated for you just buy some graphic EQ
