Are you looking for an overdrive that is not transparent and adds its own character and attitude? The Moonshine is for you. Our Moonshine Overdrive is a highly unique and massively tweaked version of the most famous overdrive ever created and housed in a little green enclosure. Blues, rock, country, jazz, and even hardcore/metal players will find this is an indispensable tool for shaping and creating unique mid heavy tones for almost any need.
You’ll immediately feel at home with our basic Volume, Tone, and Drive knobs, so tweak away! The simple 2-position “Proof” toggle gives you everything from low gain amp-like breakup with powerful colored boost settings to grinding, heavy overdrive that reaches to the very edge of cranked amp distortion.
With the toggle down, you’ll find the highest gain settings, lots of saturation and sustain and the most mid-range goo available. In the up position are the more open and forceful crunchy tones that will make any amp beg for mercy. The up position also adds more overall volume and more headroom to those searching for cleaner applications. The tone control goes down as smooth as Grandpa’s White Lightning, with none of the harsh ice-pick characteristics that many overdrives have in the brighter settings.
Just like the JHS Pedals SuperBolt, the Moonshine uses an internal 9v to 18v charge pump that allows it to run on normal 9v but converting it internally to 18v for an enormous amount of headroom, added low-end and more overall punch.
We wouldn’t be surprised if this is the most girthy, thick overdrive you have ever plugged into. If you’re a fan of stacking overdrives, you’ll love putting this in front of or behind your favorite drive, booster, or fuzz. The Moonshine delivers on any style amp, easily producing anything from SRV classic Stratocaster/Fender amp tones with class to huge “wall of rock” The Edge-style force through a Vox. On another note, you might find a few Dumble-esque lead settings that will have you feeling like you saved a cool $100,000 in search of that sacred tone. Last but not least, it kills on bass guitar, the reason it was originally designed.

Pairing with one Vox AC 4 I managed various killer sounds! Some say that this little guy is a copy of the TS-9, but I think he is more versatile, tweak the controls and get nice different colors. Excellent!!

Plain and simple, great overdrive that has a nice 'color' to it but allows my guitar and amp to do their thing too. Even more awesome that prymaxe had 15% discount on pedals that week. Best price and pedal - you won't be disappointed

I will go against the grain here and be the first to say that I think this pedal is actually only decent. It doesn't sound bad per se but at $199, I expected more, much more. To my ears, I find that it quite literally takes the shine off the moon.
YouTube clips sounded better than in person and I'm convinced that there are MANY other better alternatives out there. Take your time on this one, just saying.

Right when I heard a demo of this I new I had to grab this one! Great tone! Very thick! I love stacking it with other drives as well. It's super versatile and the toggle switch really opens up the options with this pedal! Definitely worth every penny! Shipped super fast too!!

After seeing a number of demos for this pedal, I was sold by the clarity through Prymaxe Vintage' demo. And I was not let down! This pedal is super versatile. Stacks well with most 1st stage pedals (I've tried it with a Morning Glory and Timmy) and also gives you enough gain to use alone without stacking. Big thanks to JHS and Prymaxe for the fast delivery!

I confess that I own WAY too many "dirt pedals". However, listening to the demo of this pedal by Prymaxe, I knew I "needed" this one! This is a very tube amp sounding pedal. It has dynamics and note clarity that I find really pleasing to my ear. It is the type of pedal that will sound as good as you play. What I mean is it will not cover up bad playing techniques but will reward your individual playing nuances to come thru. Sounds great with single coils as well as humbuckers. I have played it with my Les Paul Traditional Plus, Fender American Standard Stratocaster, and no name Telecaster. A fun pedal to add to my growing collection. Thank you to Prymaxe for shipping so promptly!!

This pedal is fantastic! It's an extremely thick and colored overdrive, but it colors the signal in a good way. It's also extremely versitale, great for a mid range gain pedal and even for some high kinda stuff. If you like the SRV and John Mayer kinda overdriven tones check this out. I would recommend this pedal to anyone! Another amazing piece of gear from the guys at JHS!

This is a great pedal! But like you will read it is not transperent. The tone is pretty thick and you can get some great lead and rythme tones. I use mine stacked with an Em-Drive and get some really killer tones! The moonshine acts as an overdrive until you push the gain past about 2 o'clock and it starts to be a little more on the distortion side of things. You can create some really good lead tones that are almost dumble-esk when the gain is pushed a bit. Overall this is a great pedal and would be a great addition to any board!
