Mad Professor Sweet Honey Overdrive (w/ Tele) (04:45)
The Sweet Honey Overdrive has a vintage tube amp feel with great dynamics. One thing is for sure, this ain't no tube screamer! In this video I used my trusty Nash Tele and Reinhardt MI-6 amp. I used an Eminence Red Fang speaker, which adds a pleasant compression and midrange.

Mad Professor Sweet Honey Overdrive PCB

Mad Professor Sweet Honey Overdrive (SHOD) is a super touch sensitive medium gain overdrive pedal. This pedals is now offered as lower priced pcb-model or hand wired pedal. Both share the same specs and tone.

It is designed to overdrive distorted amplifiers and give dynamically controlled light overdrive on clean sounds. Distortion level can be controlled by pick attack and pickup strength. Harder picking for overdrive and softer for cleaner tone. With the unique Focus control you can adjust the feel and dynamics of the pedal as well as overall EQ. Turning Focus CCW you need to play harder to get distortion and the tone is softer, great for jazz and blue. Focus turned CW gives a slight treble boost and earlier distortion. This type of overdrive has previously only been found in the BJF Honey Bee but is now presented in Mad Professor version. The Mad Professor SHOD has a tighter sound and is more versatile as it was designed to work with all kinds of guitars and amplifiers.

This versatile pedals stacks well with all kind of other pedals and suits for huge variety of different music styles.

  1. Excellent OD or clean boost

Posted by Unknown on 27th May 2014

One of those pedals that when you dial it into your rig you wont want to turn it off. Great tones, touch sensitive and great harmonic content.

Really easy to dial in anything from a clean boost to crunch to OD. Cleans up so well with your guitars volume knob that it knocked my longest running pedal off my board, an RC booster.

  2. Amazing OD

This has been in my grab & go board for two years. Transparent, excellent sound & build quality. Stacks well with other dirt pedals. If you're looking for a unique, quality overdrive, put this on your short list

  4. I Love this pedal (PCB Version)

Posted by Nowhere Joe on 18th May 2012

The title says it all really...

Mad Professor have really done a great job with pedal and especially the price (considering the hand wired is $312!).

The responsiveness of this pedal is awesome and really allows you to articulate the way you want to phrase your notes:

    - Dial back the drive and the focus up and you can get some great amp break up tones.
    - Dial the drive way down and the focus back and you have a nice clean (ish) boost
    - Crank up the drive with the focus up and you can get straight up killer overdrive
    - Focus at 11, Drive at 1-2, volume at 12-1 and control using your guitar volume for mellow break up - singing/stinging lead sound

Honestly its hard to go wrong with this pedal, it sounds great with my Les Paul, Strat or Tele - if it sounds bad... It's probably you!
