Product Description

Love the sound of an authentic rotary cabinet, but hate the bulk and inconvenience? Put Neo Instruments' Ventilator Pedal in your rig and get the performance, without the hassle! The Ventilator emulates a Leslie 122 rotary cabinet, right down to the independent treble and bass rotor speeds, the crossover (800Hz), and even that rich tube drive that the classic cab adds to your sound. This amazing 2-footswitch pedal even includes microphone placement emulation, so you can choose the perfect setup and sound for your rig. Love the sound of your amp, but want that rotary magic? Switch off the Ventilator's speaker simulator. And, thanks to true-bypass switching ensures that your sound is completely intact when the Ventilator is switched off.

This amazing pedal lets you adjust rotary speed and acceleration, so you get that outstanding rotary speaker vibe from your existing rig; it's perfect for touring players (or anyone who wants that Leslie vibe, without the physical cabinet). The road-tough Ventilator is housed in a rugged aluminum chassis and it's knobs are recessed, so you get worry-free performance onstage. A remotely switchable rotary stop means you're not tethered to one part of the stage when you're using the Ventilator. This pedal makes a rotary rig a reality!

  1. Next best thing to the real thing

Posted by Dennis Wieand on 20th Apr 2012

I'm a hammond player/vintage nut. In my studio I have two leslies miked up, and another one which is hornless for guitars. There's four hammonds down here also, along with a few clones. When I play out I've relented to using a Korg CX3 instead of a real hammond, however the leslie still goes everywhere with me as long as it fits. I've been playing smaller venues lately, so that hasn't been an option all the time. I realized I had to do something, and having tried out every leslie effect I could get my hands on was quite skeptical of the ventilator. Even after a friend let me borrow his it took me almost a year to jump into one. I finally got one, and have been putting it through it's paces. Keep in mind I'm super fussy about my hammond sound, or any sound for that matter (I'm still hauling a real wurly out). I'll be honest, I still prefer sitting in front of the real thing, something about the whole experience of air and sound moving all around me that I can't duplicate no matter what I do. However there's something that really bugs me about the ventilator. Out in the audience this thing sounds more like a leslie than my leslie does! I have a feeling this is because I don't mic the leslie when I play out for the most part and the highs seem to drop off once you get away from the stage any distance, however the fact remains this thing does nail the sound. You could swear something is spinning up in there, and the growl and sizzle is dead on. Honestly, this doesn't replace the leslies in the studio for my ear, I have yet to actually use it on a recording. However, for live situations where there's no way to bring a leslie out, or even for situations where it's just inconvenient this thing does the job. In fact I'll be using it in a small club tomorrow night, right into the PA with a little personal monitor on a mic stand, can't beat that for compact.
